WHAT’S NEW IN 2023

  • New PGA TOUR App:  Launching in 2023, the PGA TOUR will have a new app and mobile experience that’s more interactive, bringing mobile users closer to the championship than ever before. The app will feature:

    • Faster scoring updates, faster load times

    • Advanced wayfinding technology to allow you to quickly navigate your way to your favorite on-course destinations.

    • New immersive visual stories that will bring fans closer to our players and events

    • Larger set of stats that can be filtered by round

    • Optimized player profiles to deliver more player content and imagery

    • New course content that will take users on a tour of every hole of the course through imagery and stats

  • Two-Tier Stadium Coming to Iconic 16th and 17th Holes ​: Adding to the already electric atmosphere of the most iconic finishing stretch in golf, the venues surrounding the 16th and 17th holes will be expanded to a double-decker structure and will provide spectators with over 131,000 square feet of premium hospitality space and will accommodate thousands of fans. The reimagined stadium seating will feature the all-new Championship Club presented by Lexus, which will offer the ultimate vantage point to one of the most famous holes in golf.

  • Brand-New Sustainable Sawgrass Splash Cup: As part of the PGA TOUR’s commitment to leading the advancement of sustainability in the industry, THE PLAYERS will be serving the tournament’s signature drink, the Sawgrass Splash featuring Tito’s Handmade Vodka, in a lightweight, aluminum cup. Aluminum is the most sustainable beverage packaging material, and like aluminum cans, aluminum cups can be easily recycled; the 16 oz cups are lightweight, sturdy, cool to the touch and provide an elevated drinking experience for all fans. While the cup is changing, the iconic Sawgrass Splash is staying the same; the drink will continue to feature Tito’s Handmade Vodka, and a refreshing combination of orange juice, lemonade and lime juice.
  • Expanded Fan Area at 8th Green/9th Tee: The fan area near the 8th green and 9th tee has been expanded and will now be home to The Oasis featuring the Tito’s Stillhouse Lounge. The Oasis offers an enclosed lounge with premium sightlines of the newly reimagined 9th tee. The lounge also features fun additions for fans, including a putting green, Golden Tee retro arcade game, custom murals, TVs with live broadcasts of the tournament and more!
  • Stadium Village Enhancements: Reimagined for the 2023 Championship, THE PLAYERS Stadium Village will bring the return of the 17th Hole Challenge presented by the Proud Partners and the enhanced PGA TOUR Fan Shop as well as the all-new “Bar 904” which will feature classic drinks and a fun place for fans to gather.  
  • Free Fan Lockers courtesy of Atlantic Self Storage Located at the Nicklaus and Couples entry, THE PLAYERS is offering free fan lockers so that fans can conveniently and safely store belongings. (Reminder: THE PLAYERS does adhere to a strict clear bag policy) 
  • New Food Partners: Driven by a commitment to reflect Northeast Florida and its offerings, THE PLAYERS annually features local restaurants at the championship. New in 2023 will be The G.O.A.T. Tapas Bar, which will be bringing flavors from around the world to THE PLAYERS. Maestro Dobel Tequila will also be introducing a new cocktail for the tournament, the Dobel Ace Paloma Cocktail.
  • PGA TOUR Training Center: NOBULL, Hyperice and Whoop are teaming up to offer an all-new immersive experience for fans. Conveniently located near the Love Entry, the PGA TOUR Training Center will highlight the training experience for PGA TOUR athletes and give fans a glimpse of what it is like to train like the pros!
  • Ultra Hour: While every hour spent at the world-famous Stadium Course is a happy one, Michelob ULTRA is taking happy hour to a new level with their brand-new ULTRA Hour promotion! Fans can expect an exciting surprise drink special on Michelob ULTRA products throughout the week of the tournament.

KEY THINGS TO KNOW

  • Tickets: 
  • Youth Tickets: 
    • Up to two (2) youth, ages 15 and under, will be admitted free with a ticketed adult all week long. 
    • All youth ages six and older must have a ticket in order to access hospitality venues. 
  • Military Appreciation Ceremony and Concert: starting at 4:30 p.m. on the Island Green 17th hole. A Tuesday ticket to THE PLAYERS includes access to the ceremony and concert.  
  • Patriots’ Outpost : The Patriots’ Outpost  returns in 2023 as an open-air venue next to the 16th tee box for military members, veterans, and one dependent to enjoy unobstructed views of the tournament and complimentary snacks and drinks.  
  • Autograph Zones: two locations in 2023 – practice grounds and near the scoring area 
    • NOTE: On-course autograph seeking is prohibited (this includes, but is not limited to, tees, fairways, greens and practice areas during practice rounds and tournament rounds). 
  • The 17th Hole Challenge presented by Morgan Stanley, Grant Thornton and Optum: A replica of the famed 17th hole where fans can take two free shots at the Island Green or purchase an additional chance for a $5 donation to First Tee – North Florida. Fans can make a $20 donation (or more) for a “The First Tee Fast Pass” to bypass the queue, take five shots and receive a free sleeve of golf balls. All proceeds will benefit The First Tee – North Florida.  
  • Kids Zone presented by Nemours Children’s Health System near 8 green  
  • Open-to-the-public fan bleachers: 
    • 16 Tee Fan Bleacher presented by TruGreen
    • 8 Tee Fan Bleacher presented by Tito’s 
  • Parking: 
    • ALL parking will be completely digital. 
    • As in years past, all parking must be purchased separately. 
    • Parking passes are required every day, Tuesday through Sunday. 
    • “Four or more for free” vouchers will not be offered this year.   
  • Military and Veteran Tickets:  
    • Complimentary admission will be provided to active duty, retired, reserve and National Guard members and one dependent on Tuesday, March 7, and Wednesday, March 8, and one competition day (Thursday, March 9, to Sunday, March 12), while supplies last. Valid identification and credentials are required.  
    • Veterans with valid identification will be able to purchase up to two (2) discounted Stadium Passes on Tuesday, March 7, and Wednesday, March 8, as well as one competition day (Thursday, March 9, to Sunday, March 12), while supplies last.

  • Opening Weekend: The PGA TOUR Fan Shop in THE PLAYERS Stadium Village will be open to the public the weekend before the tournament (March 3-5), so that our Northeast Florida community can come check out the unique merchandise collection and purchase commemorative items and apparel, while also taking a few swings in the 17th Hole Challenge presented by Morgan Stanley, Grant Thornton and Optum. 
    • Friday, March 3: 12 pm to 5 pm  
    • Saturday, March 4: 10 am to 5 pm  
    • Sunday, March 5: 10 am to 5 pm  
  • Cashless experience: Payment processes at the PGA TOUR Fan Shop, all vendors and all concession stands will be digital, contactless and cashless throughout the entire tournament property.  
  • Shuttles:  NEW in 2023! On Friday, March 10, Saturday, March 11 and Sunday, March, 12 THE PLAYERS will run a free shuttle service for Nocatee and area residents to park for free at Palm Valley Academy (700 Bobcat Lane, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32081), Valley Ridge Academy (105 Greenleaf Drive, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32081) and Pine Island Academy (805 Pine Island Rd, St. Augustine, FL 32095) and then take a free shuttle to and from THE PLAYERS. The shuttles will run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will drop fans off right in front of the Nicklaus entrance.

    Shuttles are available from several downtown Jacksonville hotels to THE PLAYERS, Thursday through Sunday of tournament week. Shuttles will be available from Hogan Street by the Marriott Jacksonville Downtown, Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront, and Southbank Hotel Jacksonville Riverwalk (which guests at the Doubletree by Hilton Jacksonville Riverfront can also utilize) to both hotel guests and area residents, providing a convenient and cost-effective way for fans to get to and from the tournament. Shuttle passes are $20 plus applicable fees. Shuttles will operate Thursday through Sunday, and shuttle passes will be available for purchase in the near future.

Friday, March 3  

  • Noon – 5 p.m.: The PGA TOUR Fan Shop and THE PLAYERS 17th Hole Challenge is open to the public; No ticket is required and parking is free in the general lot off CR 210.  

Saturday, March 4  

  • 11 a.m.-2 p.m.- Military Job Fair -THE PLAYERS, in partnership with the Jacksonville Military Veterans Coalition, will host its annual Military Job Fair. The job fair will be located in the Patriots’ Outpost. The Military Job Fair is free and open to military personnel, veterans and military spouses. Approximately 30 companies with existing job opportunities will be on-hand.  
  • 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.: The PGA TOUR Fan Shop at THE PLAYERS Stadium Village is open to the public; No ticket is required, and parking is free in the general lot off CR 210. 

Sunday, March 5 

  • 12 p.m. – 1:30  p.m. – THE PLAYERS and Operation Shower to celebrate 40 military moms-to-be with baby shower; THE PLAYERS and Operation Shower continue a longstanding tradition of hosting a baby shower ahead of the championship for 40 special military mothers to be. The shower will be held in the Patriots’ Outpost hospitality space, located next to the 16th hole.  
  • 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.: The PGA TOUR Fan Shop at THE PLAYERS Stadium Village is open to the public; No ticket is required, and parking is free in the general lot off CR 210. 

Monday, March 6 

  • Practice Day for professionals 
  • Course closed to the public 
  • Will Call Hours: 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. 
  • THE PLAYERS Baby Bodysuit initiative: Every baby born in Northeast Florida during the entire week of THE PLAYERS receives a special onesie provided by THE PLAYERS.  

Tuesday, March 7 – Military Appreciation Day

  • 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.: Rob Strano Clinic for the Deaf and the Blind. Location: Dye’s Valley Golf Course Hole #9

Wednesday, March 8 

  • Entries open at 7:30 a.m.

  • All day: THE PLAYERS Championship Caddie Competition in Memory of Bruce Edwards – Closest to the pin competition at the 17th hole amongst all of the caddies. 
  • 9:30-11:00 a.m.: “These Kids Can Play” presented by TIAA Bank and co-hosted by THE PLAYERS, PGA TOUR Wives Association, and the Jim and Tabitha Furyk Foundation. Location: Championship Club (near 16 green) 
  • 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.: Dream Day at THE PLAYERS; Youth from two local organizations (Tom Coughlin Jay Fund and Dreams Come Trues) will receive a special “Dream Day” at THE PLAYERS, including an inside-the-ropes experience at the Island Green 17th Hole 
  • 8-10 a.m.: THE PLAYERS First-timers press conference – Media have the opportunity to interview the PGA TOUR players who are participating at THE PLAYERS Championship for the first time.   
  • 4:00 p.m. – The Tesori Family Foundation All-Star Clinic (The Yards) – The Tesori Family Foundation was founded in 2009 by Paul Tesori—former PGA TOUR player and current PGA TOUR caddie for THE PLAYERS 2018 champion Webb Simpson—along with his now wife Michelle, to give back to those in need in the Northeast Florida community. The All-Star Clinic invites children with special needs to a golf clinic at Sawgrass Country Club, and it has since expanded to other PGA TOUR events as well, serving more than 200 kids annually.
