WHAT’S NEW IN 2022

  • New Food Partners: Driven by a commitment to reflect Northeast Florida and its offerings, THE PLAYERS annually features local restaurants at the tournament. New in 2022: The Local in the Food Court; Silkie’s Chicken & Champagne Bar in Taste of JAX; Saffron and 904Burger in Trucks on 10. 
  • Other new food and beverage experiences: Tito’s Handmade Vodka is now the official vodka of the PGA TOUR and will sponsor a new venue near 18 tee called The Oasis featuring Tito’s Stillhouse Lounge. 
  • Welcome Experience Enhancements: Reimagined for the 2022 championship, THE PLAYERS Welcome Experience will bring the return of the 17th Hole Challenge presented by the Proud Partners, PGA TOUR Fan Shop and a brand new Proud Partner Experience. 
  • Chip In For Charity: “Chip In For Youth” is now “Chip In For Charity” program. As part of this new program, the list of charities eligible to participate has expanded to include to all organizations in Northeast Florida (Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns counties) that provide services and programs within one of THE PLAYERS’ key charitable pillars: youth services, education, character development, health, wellness and sports, and military support. Participating organizations will receive $40 from every competition round (Thursday through Sunday) ticket purchased in their name under the program, while supplies last.   • New Hospitality Venue – The Deck Presented by Michelob ULTRA:  Located between the 16th and 18th holes, this a premium, open-air venue ideal for fans looking for an upgraded experience. This hospitality venue is the only individual weekly ticket available for purchase and features indoor and outdoor seating, a full-service bar (with complimentary beer, wine and soda with food and beverage for purchase) and expansive views of two of the most challenging holes on the Stadium Course.
  • New digital ticket process for military and veteran tickets: New this year, the tickets will be presented by Optum, Morgan Stanley and Grant Thornton, and will include a digital food voucher. All military and veteran tickets will be digital and must be secured in advance through an online verification system, and once the redemption process is complete, tickets can be accessed instantly.   • New start time for the Military Appreciation Ceremony: 4:30 p.m. on the Island Green 17th Hole 
  • Youth Ticket Policy: Up to two (2) youth, ages 15 and under, will be admitted free with a ticketed adult all week long.

  • Returning Fan Favorites and Experiences:
    • Military Appreciation Ceremony and Concert: starting at 4:30 p.m. on the Island Green 17th hole. A Tuesday ticket to THE PLAYERS includes access to the ceremony and concert. 
    • Patriots’ Outpost presented by Optum, Morgan Stanley and Grant Thornton: The Patriots’ Outpost presented by Optum, Morgan Stanley and Grant Thornton returns in 2022 as an open-air venue next to the 16th tee box for military members, veterans, and one dependent to enjoy unobstructed views of the tournament and complimentary snacks and drinks. 
    • Autograph Zones: two locations in 2022 – practice grounds and near the scoring area
      • NOTE: On-course autograph seeking is prohibited (this includes, but is not limited to, tees, fairways, greens and practice areas during practice rounds and tournament rounds).
    • The 17th Hole Challenge presented by Optum, Morgan Stanley and Grant Thornton: a replica of the famed 17th hole where fans can take two free shots at the Island Green or purchase an additional chance for a $5 donation to First Tee – North Florida. Fans can make a $20 donation (or more) for a “The First Tee Fast Pass” to bypass the queue, take five shots and receive a free sleeve of golf balls. All proceeds will benefit The First Tee – North Florida. 
    • Kids Zone presented by Nemours Children’s Health System near 8 green 
    • Open-to-the-public fan bleachers:
      • 10 tee/16 tee
      • 12 green/13 green – Fan Bleachers presented by Daily’s 
  • Parking:
    • ALL parking will be completely digital.
    • As in years past, all parking must be purchased separately.
    • Parking passes are required every day, Tuesday through Sunday.
    • ‘Four or more for free’ vouchers will not be offered this year.  
  • Military and Veteran Tickets: 
    • Complimentary admission will be provided to active duty, retired, reserve and National Guard members and one dependent on Tuesday, March 8, and Wednesday, March 9, and one competition day (Thursday, March 10, to Sunday, March 13), while supplies last. Valid identification and credentials are required. 
    • Veterans with valid identification will be able to purchase up to two (2) discounted Stadium Passes on Tuesday, March 8, and Wednesday, March 9, as well as one competition day (Thursday, March 10, to Sunday, March 13), while supplies last.

  • Opening Weekend: THE PLAYERS Welcome Experience and the PGA TOUR Fan Shop will be open to the public the weekend before the tournament (March 4-6), so that our Northeast Florida community can come check out the unique merchandise collection and purchase commemorative items and apparel, while also taking a few swings in the 17th Hole Challenge presented by Optum, Morgan Stanley and Grant Thornton.

  • Cashless experience: Payment processes at the PGA TOUR Fan Shop, all vendors and all concession stands will be digital, contactless and cashless throughout the entire tournament property.

Saturday, March 5 

  • 10 a.m.-1 p.m.- Military Job Fair -THE PLAYERS, in partnership with the Jacksonville Military Veterans Coalition, will host its 11th annual Military Job Fair presented by United Rentals. The job fair will be located in the Patriots’ Outpost. The Military Job Fair is free and open to military personnel, veterans and military spouses. Approximately 25 companies with existing job opportunities will be on-hand. 
  • 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.: The PGA TOUR Fan Shop at THE PLAYERS Welcome Experience is open to the public; No ticket is required and parking is free in the general lot off CR 210.

Sunday, March 6 

  • 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. –  THE PLAYERS and Operation Shower to celebrate 40 military moms-to-be with baby shower; THE PLAYERS and Operation Shower continue a longstanding tradition of hosting a baby shower ahead of the championship for 40 special military mothers to be. The shower will return to an in-person format in 2022 and will be held in the Patriots’ Outpost hospitality space, located next to the 16th hole. 
  • 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.: The PGA TOUR Fan Shop at THE PLAYERS Welcome Experience is open to the public; No ticket is required and parking is free in the general lot off CR 210.

Monday, March 7

  • Practice Day for professionals

  • THE PLAYERS Baby Bodysuit initiative: Every baby born in Northeast Florida during the entire week of THE PLAYERS receives a special bodysuit provided by Carter’s. 

Tuesday, March 8 – Military Appreciation Day

  • 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.: Rob Strano Clinic for the Deaf and the Blind. Location: Dye’s Valley Golf Course 
  • Charity of the Day: Northeast Florida Women Veterans 
  • 9:30-11:00 a.m.: “These Kids Can Play” presented by TIAA Bank and co-hosted by THE PLAYERS, PGA TOUR Wives Association, and the Jim and Tabitha Furyk Foundation. Location: Championship Club (near 16 green)
  • 8:30 a.m. to noon: Fairways For Excellence forum: First generation and other students and student-athletes from area colleges, universities and Historically Black Colleges and Universities will participate in a sport and education forum that highlights the wide variety of career opportunities available beyond the sport they play. 
  • 1:00 p.m.: Local First Tee students unveil their unique putting green designs at the Morgan Stanley Eagles for Impact venue (18 fairway)
  • 4:30 p.m.: Military Appreciation Day Ceremony begins 
  • 5:00 p.m.: Military Appreciation Concert

Wednesday, March 9

  • All day: THE PLAYERS Championship Caddie Competition in Memory of Bruce Edwards – Closest to the pin competition at the 17th hole amongst all of the caddies.
  • 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.: Dream Day at THE PLAYERS; Youth from five local organizations (Tom Coughlin Jay Fund, Dreams Come True, First Tee, Moore Myers Children’s Fund, Special Olympics) will receive a special “Dream Day” at THE PLAYERS, including an inside-the-ropes experience at the Island Green 17th Hole
  • 8-10 a.m.: THE PLAYERS First-timers press conference – Media have the opportunity to interview the PGA TOUR players who are participating at THE PLAYERS Championship for the first time. 
  • 7:30-9:00 a.m.: FCA Breakfast (Sawgrass Marriott Master’s Ballroom) 
  • 4:00 p.m. – The Tesori Family Foundation All-Star Clinic (The Yards) – The Tesori Family Foundation was founded in 2009 by Paul Tesori—former PGA TOUR player and current PGA TOUR caddie for THE PLAYERS 2018 champion Webb Simpson—along with his now wife Michelle, to give back to those in need in the Northeast Florida community. The All-Star Clinic invites children with special needs to a golf clinic at Sawgrass Country Club, and it has since expanded to other PGA TOUR events as well, serving more than 200 kids annually.

Thursday, March 10

  • First round of competition begins at approximately 6:45 a.m. (threesomes off of No. 1 and No.10)
  • Charity of the Day: Ascension St. Vincent’s Foundation 
  • 12:00 p.m.: TruGreen check presentation to First Tee – North Florida. Location: Fan Bleachers presented by TruGreen on 16 tee. As official marketing partner of the PGA TOUR and a trustee of First Tee, TruGreen is donating $10,000 to First Tee – North Florida. An example of TruGreen’s commitment to its local communities, the donation presented will help the North Florida Chapter’s development of the Blue Cypress Game Changers Clubhouse, a new learning center that will benefit over 300 local children each year. A few opening remarks will be given prior to the check presentation. Anthony Conversa, Chief Growth Officer of TruGreen, and Jeff Willoughby, Executive Director First Tee – North Florida will provide remarks alongside check presentation. Youth from First Tee – North Florida will be in attendance as well. 

Friday, March 11

  • “Tea Time” event at the Kids Zone presented by Nemours Children’s Health: All kids attending THE PLAYERS are invited to ‘swing’ by the Kids Zone between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to participate in fun putt-putt activity with members of the Orthopedics and Sports Medicine team at Nemours. Sweet and unsweet tea will be provided to all attendees, and there will be a sweepstakes for the chance to win a gift basket containing Nemours-branded items.
